Yesterday morning, I was up early to give a talk to for Indigo Magazine’s book festival in Korea.
Hello, Stranger was published in Korean last year, and it’s been great to get so much positive feedback from Korean readers.
I was talking yesterday about three things we misunderstand about strangers: how we imagine mistakenly that our primary response to strangers is necessarily one of fear; how we think that the problems presented by strangers (and their solutions) are mainly concerned with how we talk to strangers; and how we believe — again, mistakenly — that our ultimate aim should be to befriend the strangers with whom we share our world.
It was good also to have a chance to take audience questions, and to think through some familiar topics from new perspectives.
