One of the highlights of last year was the project I ran with my Wind&Bones collaborator, Dr Hannah Stevens, in conjunction with the brilliant Emprove Foundation in Bulgaria, and British Embassy, Sofia.
During the project, we worked with women survivors of domestic abuse on writing and editing micro-stories, which became the basis of an exhibition that has just opened at the National Gallery Kvadrat 500 in Sofia. The stories were translated into Bulgarian by poet Nadezhda Radulova and Silvia Ivanova.
The stories and artworks from the project are truly beautiful, and a testament to the talent and brilliance of the women writers with whom we worked. You can find out more about the project on the National Gallery blog. We’re looking forward to heading out to Sofia later this summer to see the exhibition in person.
